Dedicated to the archangel Michael, the abbey is a symbol of France's cultural heritage and is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The construction of the abbey spans multiple centuries, featuring a blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles. Perched high above the surrounding village, the abbey is accessible by a winding path that leads through the charming streets of Mont Saint-Michel. Meandering Riverbed

Located in the eastern meadows in front of the island, the meandering riverbed that zig-zags in the foreground almost perfectly lines up with Mont Saint Michel rising out of the bay. The riverbed is usually dry year-round and only fills up after very heavy rains and/or exceptionally high tides.
