City of Yharnam

“Yharnam is an imposing and sprawling metropolis characterized by Gothic and Victorian architecture.

Yharnam's Victorian architecture is reminiscent of late 19th Century European cities including Paris, Edinburgh, Cologne and London. Residents of Yharnam are called Yharnamites. The town appears rather grim and decadent and has been ravaged by a mysterious plague, becoming infested with dangerous beasts and demented citizens.

During the outbreak, the inhabitants of Yharnam formed large street mobs and pursued those who were infected by the plague, the beasts that terrorize the city, and trespassers who dared to set foot in the dark streets. Those unfortunate enough to be captured by the mobs of crazed citizens meet a gruesome end, often at the stake.”

This is the core box of the boardgame, it contains multiple bosses and enemies. As well as 4 campaigns to play through. I set out wanting to add textured bases to all the models and to repose the enemies (who all come in sets of 4) so each model would be unique.

Cleric Beast

“The Cleric Beast is a huge creature with hideous, twisted horns, matted fur and a malnourished figure, and emits shrieks that sound like cries of agony.”

This is one of the bosses from the core box of Bloodborne. It’s actualy the first boss you fight in the video game. It’s already an impressive figure, so I didn’t do any converting to it, aside from adding some basing materials.

Blood-Starved Beast

“The Blood-starved Beast is a deformed, quadrupedal creature whose skin is peeled off and hanging from its back.”

This is one of the many disturbing bosses in the game, however I felt like the original model didn’t do it justice. The flesh looked more like it was just draped there, rather than actually peeling off. So I resculpted the section where it attaches to his back and added some more stretched bits. Plus a bit more hanging over it’s face. I also reposed the right arm into something more reminiscent of one of its attack patterns.

Father Gascoigne

“Father Gascoigne is an experienced hunter who has succumbed to the blood-drunkenness of the hunt and, as such, descended into a frenzied killing spree.”

One of the early boss fights that where he transforms part way through the fight into a beast himself. The models themselves I left as standard because I didn’t need to make any changes.

Vicar Amelia

“Vicar Amelia is a high-ranking member of the Healing Church, the successor of Laurence, and to whom his Gold Pendant has been passed down. At first Amelia is seen as a normal human woman with tattered white robes, kneeling and reciting a prayer, but after a few instants she changes abruptly. Her skin ruptures under the force of her new body, splattering blood all around her: now another kind of Cleric Beast, her ash blonde hair has become a long wild mane while her face, covered by scraps of her clothes like the rest of her body, has turned into a lupine head with thin antlers and a slasher smile of sharp teeth.”

This is just the standard model for Vicar Amelia.

Scourge Beasts

“Scourge Beasts were once humans who, after being infected by the plague, transformed into these creatures. They are humanoid monsters with facial features of a wolf. Their bodies eventually become covered in black fur.”

Essentially werewolf type creatures, the Scourge Beast appear early in the game and completely wreck you. It takes a while to learn how to fight them.

These beast gave me the perfect opportunity to do some really cool conversions, reposing each one in a unique way. Very happy with the result, but required a lot of work, chopping and changing bits. I’ve cut jaws, hips, arms and even some hand swaps (which included rearranging the fingers!)

Huntsman

“Huntsmen are inhabitants of Yharnam. All hunstmen look the same, donning hairy faces and sullen eyes. Huntsmen use a variety of weapons such as pitchforks, axes, firearms, torches, and shields. When night falls, Yharnamites form hunting parties in order to hunt beasts and outsiders alike. They attack human outsiders because the plague has made them delirious, blaming them for the plague, and are unable to tell the difference between man and beast.”

To make each set of Huntsmen unique, I decided to just mix up the placement of each set of 3 figures on the base. Putting them in different orders and positions.

Beast Patient (male)

“The male Beast Patients resemble the Huntsmen in an advanced state of the beast scourge, their transformation completed, with a werewolf-like, thin and elongated body that is covered in bandages and ripped cloth, exposing their fur.”

Fairly simple conversion, I just adjusted the position on the arms of each model, so it looked like they had different poses.

Beast Patient (female)

“The female Beast Patients appear to have a rather feral appearance, but are interestingly almost entirely devoid of the thick hair, unlike most beasts. Instead, their bodies are grey in coloration and have extremely short fur. They have large talons and fangs, and they also wear bandages and a type of shroud, covering their heads, which allows them to hide in vegetation.”

Same as the Beast Patient (male) I just cut and repositioned the arms to create a variety of poses.

Huntsman's Minion

“Like the other residents of Yharnam, Huntsman's Minions have been transformed by the beast plague. However, they resemble ogres rather than lycanthropes. Despite their hulking size, they are surprisingly fast opponents that can quickly pummel an unfortunate hunter with devastating blows.”

These models where a bit harder to convert, because they had very solid torsos and shoulders. So I mainly just adjusted the wrists and hands. The different positions are more subtle than I would like, but it still works.

Church Servant

“Church Servants are humanoid but stand almost twice as tall as a human, with pale white skin and blank black eyes. It is believed that when the Healing Church came upon the dungeons underneath Yharnam, that they were able to "tame" the Pthumerians into servitude, through some arcane method.”

For these models, I just did some more arm reposes and it worked fairly well I feel, especially with having the staff in very different positions.

Church Giants

“Church Giants are large humanoids with pale skin and a vacant expression on their faces. Their outfit consist of a black hat, a white mantle, and a bell that hangs from their necks. The bell rings whenever it takes a step, and coupled with the sound of its footsteps, it is easy to identify whether or not one is close to you.”

These were some other models that were too hard to do any conversion to, so they’re all just the standard models.
